Important scam warning. We have become aware of a phishing email with the subject: ‘Your latest Q Mastercard statement is now available’, which is currently circulating. This email has no Customer ID in email body and is targeted at (but not limited to) @xtra.co.nz email addresses. The email may request your account details in order to provide a refund. It may also request you to click on ‘My Account’. This email is a scam.

 

If you receive a suspicious email please delete it and do not click on it or provide any of your account details.

Scams can happen to anyone and we want to keep you safe. Always remain vigilant of suspicious and unsolicited emails, phone calls and text messages.

 

Phishing scams – a fraudulent attempt to get sensitive information – are very common and can result in the loss of your personal data and/or your money.

 

  • Any email from us will always have your Customer ID. (You can find your Customer ID at the back of your card.)
  • If you have any doubts about a link you have been sent, type the website address into your web browser directly or use your mouse to hover over a link without clicking. This will let you see if the website address is relevant to the email you received.
  • We will never request your password, pin number, credit card number, CVC number, or access to your device in an email.
  • Our automated calling service will confirm your customer ID, our telephone number and our hours of operation during the call. We would not ask you to dial 1 to speak with an operator or anything similar. If you receive a suspicious call, please hang-up immediately.
  • If you receive a suspicious email or text message delete it and do not click on any links.
  • Remember, the disclosure of your personal information is a breach of Q Mastercard Terms and Conditions and we cannot be responsible if it results in a loss of money.
